The Shepherding Ministry provides a means of caring and communicating – among members of the church and between the congregation and the pastor. All members of St. Matthews United Methodist Church are assigned a shepherd to care for them. This ministry is an important link that helps members achieve a sense of “belonging”.

Shepherds do the following as a means of caring for church members:

1. Pray for members of their flock.
2. Communicate with members bimonthly … phone call, text. Email, visit, or card … whatever is convenient.
3. Contact the church if someone in their flock is having a problem.
4. Reach out in other ways, if/when needed.
