In September, Saint Matthews UMC will observe the 160th anniversary of its founding. The theme is “Honoring Our Past, Shaping Our Future,” and several events and activities are being planned.

An activity that is already underway is the 160-Mile Walking Challenge where the Saint Matthews church family is invited to lace up and log miles in honor of this milestone. Here are the details:

• What. Walk 160 miles over the course of the challenge — at your own pace, on your own schedule.
• When. April 12–Sept. 19, 2026
• Cost. Absolutely FREE!
• Who. Open to all SMUMC members, families and friends; all are welcome.
• How. Walk whenever and wherever works for you. Every single step counts!
