“Be The Church” Campaign (November 2026-January 2027)

In continuing Saint Matthews United Methodist Church’s 160th anniversary celebration, all members are invited to participate in the “Be The Church” campaign, which gives our congregation the opportunity to help our community more than ever.

From Nov. 1, 2026, to Jan. 31, 2027, the congregation is asked to commit to volunteer hours over and above of the normal SMUMC programs. The goal is to collectively accumulate 160 hours of community service as a church!

Each individual is asked to use a volunteer form to log their hours weekly. The form will have a list of acceptable agencies and projects that can be counted. There are manual forms and a collection box in Narthex, or you may use the online form sent via email. Each week, the church’s collective progress will be charted and displayed by the mercury on the 160-hour thermometer in the hallway.

For more information, contact any committee member (Wanda Edgerton, Jimmie Gravely, Debi McClendon, Lydia McNeill, Ramona Miller, and Ouida Scarborough) or co-chair (Pastor Tamara Ingram and Pastor Torey Haynes).
