40 Days, 40 Items Lenten Challenge to Fill the Food Pantry

During the season of Lent, congregants and friends of Saint Matthews UMC are asked to donate 40 nonperishable food items (or one per day) to the Food Pantry.

Note: Monetary donations also will be accepted. Remember to select special on your envelopes or other online, then fill in “Food Pantry.”

The Food Pantry needs the items listed below:

  • Canned goods (i.e., tuna, chicken (large), baked beans, black-eyed peas, carrots, chili, corn, diced tomatoes, fruit, green beans, mixed vegetables, pasta for children, pinto beans, soups, spaghetti/ravioli, and sweet peas)
  • Other nonperishable items (i.e., bags of rice, boxed cereal, grits, jelly, peanut butter, and oatmeal)

Please bring your items to the church as follows:

  • In front of Multipurpose Office during Food Pantry hours (Tuesdays/Wednesdays, 10 a.m.-noon, now through April 1)
  • In front of Multipurpose Office before Worship Services (Sundays, March 1-29)
  • “The Big Drive-thru Drop-off Day” in the Fellowship Hall Parking Lot (Friday, April 3, 3-6 p.m.,  curbside service only)

We are praying for 100% participation to fight local hunger.
