The Food Pantry

The goal of the Food Pantry is more than providing food, it is to demonstrate Christ’s “radical hospitality” by inviting others into the family of God. The relational work of this ministry is to invite people who are food insecure to be part of our church, our ministry and even leaders of our program.

Normal hours of operation are Mon – Wed from 10am – 12pm. Picture ID is required to receive food.

In January 2015, the Food Pantry committee launched an initiative, “The Birthday Club”, to keep our food pantry stocked with a continuous supply of food that will allow this important community service to be self-sustaining. This program continues to thrive and grow stronger every year.

As a congregation, we have a responsibility to provide the necessary support to maintain the Food Pantry and ensure its viability to meet the increasing needs of the community we serve.

The current Birthday Calendar is the foundation for the Food Pantry Birthday Club. Here’s how it works. Each person celebrating a birthday in a given month will have three ways to participate. When your birth month arrives, you may contribute:

a.) a $1 equivalent matching your age: or
b.) an equivalent number of canned food items matching your age:or
c.) any combination of money and food items matching your age.

Example: If you have a birthday in June and you turn 60, you can contribute: $60; or 60 food items; or $30 and 30 food items. You may honor a member celebrating a birthday by donating food or money in their name.

Reminders will be communicated from the pulpit and through bulletin inserts.

Please give prayerful consideration to whatever level of participation works best for you. We are deeply appreciative of all contributions.

In the words of Paul: “Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men.” Ephesians 6:7 NIV.
