The Creation Care Ministry works to promote environmental stewardship and earth advocacy in coordination with the United Methodist Creation Justice Movement. The ministry functions in accordance with the mission of Saint Matthews UMC – to nurture its members, reach out to others, and witness to the Glory of God through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit.

• Partners in Health and Wholeness Collaborative and NC Council of Churches
• Encourage undertaking of environment-friendly lifestyle habits per all ministry areas of the church (Western NC Conference UMC Green Church Initiative)
• Participate in citywide clean ups, tree plantings, SMUMC Fall Festival (themes: healthy eating, earth care)
