James B. Dudley High School wants the community’s assistance in providing hall monitors during the day to encourage the students to attend their assigned classes. It takes a village to raise our children and we are that village.
If you are interested in volunteering at Dudley High School (1200 Lincoln Street, Greensboro), please register as a volunteer at the Guilford County Schools link: www.gcsvolunteers.com. Applicants must create a username and password to complete the volunteer registration form. Once completed and submitted, the application will be processed and a background check will be done. Applicants should receive a clearance email from the district volunteer office within 48-72 hours.

If you need inspiration, ask a few people for ideas, think about what inspires you or who/what influences you. The final selection will be made by all current and previous members of the SMUMC Creation Care Ministry (CCM), volunteers and other supporters. A tree will be planted in honor of the person who submits the entry of choice, and a $15 gift card will be awarded.
Include these three criteria: (1) name for community garden, (2) origin of the idea and/or (3) inspiration (story behind having made the choice). Send entries to Karlah Y. Burton. Contact any CCM member for more information or if you are interested in working with the ministry: Romona Gibson, Inell Artis, Annette Kirkpatrick or Karlah Y. Burton (Chairperson, North Carolina Earthkeeper).

Identify in your home or workplace ways you have made thoughtful changes in the past year because of your love for creation. Are you printing less or on two sides? Have you cut down on food waste or started composting? Make a list or tally mark of your actions and celebrate. Then talk about the exercise with someone. Find out what they are doing. Encourage each other.

Feeling overwhelmed by all that needs to be done to protect the planet and its people? Imagine a huge bowl of something you would like to eat. You take a bite and then another bite — not the whole thing at once. Choose one action you can do and do it. Don’t stop there. Take on another “bite,” and then another. You are making a difference.
