Easter Sunrise Service (April 12)

EASTER SUNRISE SERVICE will be held here at St. Matthews, Sunday, April 12, 6 a.m. The Reverend William Wright, pastor of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Greensboro, will deliver the morning message. Breakfast will be served immediately following the service. 

UMC Scholarships (Deadline: March 5)

The Global Board of Higher Education Ministry (GBHEM) Office of Loans and Scholarships offers financial aid to United Methodist students pursing undergraduate and graduate degrees. The application period is Jan. 3 to March 5 for most financial opportunities. You may visit the following websites to get a list of scholarship types and an application:

Lenten Book Study (March 11 – April 8)

The church is asked to read Ezra Klein’s “Why We’re Polarized” for a churchwide Lenten book study, then join Pastor FitzJefferies on Wednesdays, March 11 – April 8, for weekly book review discussions at 6:30 p.m. in room 20. Books can be purchased at Amazon, Barnes & Noble and eBay.

Fat Tuesday Pancake Supper (Feb. 25)

This year’s all you can eat Fat Tuesday Pancake Supper will be Tuesday, Feb. 25, 6-7:30 p.m., in the Fellowship Hall. Donations are welcome but not required.

“The Glory Train” at Triad Stage (Feb. 14)

The FirstFruits Drama Ministry will board “The Glory Train” at 7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 14, at Triad Stage (232 S. Elm Street, Greensboro, NC 27401). Also featured will be “Come, Go with Me to Harlem.”

Creation Care Ministry Interest Meeting (Feb. 12)

Note: If you are interested in attending an upcoming EarthKeepers training, please contact Karlah Burton, ministry chairperson. The training will be held in Southport, North Carolina, on Feb. 8 and Feb. 9. EarthKeepers trains United Methodists in the United States to start and grow environmental projects and equips participants to develop projects that address environmental concerns in their churches and communities.
