As humans we crave contact with others, but limiting social contact is an essential means of stopping the spread of disease and also caring for others. There are technologies that safely bring people face to face digitally—phones, email, social media, texting and teleconferencing. Don’t let social distancing become social isolation.
You are invited to participate in Easter Sunday Service via Zoom.

COVID-19 is a Creation Justice issue. It is also a spiritual opportunity!
Take to heart Methodism founder John Wesley’s Rules for Christian Living in relationship to caring for creation: “Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the places you can, in all the times you can, as long as ever you can.”
Jesus challenges us even in these trying times to love our world. As we take steps to weather some of the effects of climate change and the coronavirus outbreak, consider your personal habits and their effects. Who is your neighbor? Let your actions come from your commitment to care for others. Take time to visit www.umccreationjustice.org.
Touching Lives for Jesus Christ!
In accordance to the Governor’s “Stay at Home” order, all church activities will be suspended until the order is lifted. The church administrative assistant will work from home to answer phone calls, emails and create/distribute weekly email bulletins. You may still call the church office during regular business hours.
GIVING OF TITHES AND OFFERINGS
There are 3 ways to continue to give your tithes and offerings:
Be blessed and stay safe.
As you are aware the COVID-19 has been a deep concern for our nation for the past few weeks. Today, Bishop Leeland sent a letter to all Clergy requesting that all churches in the conference suspend worship gatherings for the next two weeks. We will follow the guidance of our Bishop and suspend worship services, meetings, rehearsals and activities as requested. This action is a means of showing care and concern for the safety and welfare of our congregation and our community.
Dwayne will record a message from me on Sunday and it will be sent out as a YouTube link and posted on our website.
I pray that all of you will be blessed and remain healthy over the next two weeks. Let us pray for one another, our church and our nation. Stand on the finished work of God, knowing He is able to do all things, and through Christ, is watching over us now. The Lord will see us through this time together as we move forward by faith.
Peace and blessings
As per the recommendation of Bishop Hope Morgan Ward (NC Conference, UMC) and Bishop Paul L. Leeland (Western NC Conference, UMC), Sunday public worship services at Saint Matthews have been suspended for two weeks.
