Torey Haynes was raised in Denver, NC by his grandparents Benjamin and Sandra Mclean (deceased). Growing up in the church Torey was saved and baptized under the Rev. Shirley L. Canty at Rock Hill United Methodist Church.

Torey attended Shaw University in Raleigh N.C, where he served as a chapel assistant for four years. There Torey saw and helped bring almost a hundred students into the body of Christ. Torey also served as Student Ambassador to the White House in 2017 as well as Sophomore Class President. Torey graduated Summa Cum Laude from Shaw University in 2020 with a 3.4 GPA ( B.A. Religion and Philosophy) where he served his final year as the Senior Class President.

Torey has served as a lay delegate at large in the Western North Carolina Conference since 2016 and is currently serving on the Board of Higher Education and Christian Ministry until 2028.

Torey graduated Hood Theological Seminary in 2024 where he obtained a Master in Divinity. Torey served his first appointment as the Pastor of Galilee and St Paul United Methodist Churches in the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist.

In 2023, Torey Haynes married the love of his life, Geneva Daye Haynes. They have one child, Hezekiah Haynes, one. Torey Haynes guiding scripture is Philippians 4:6-7, because God takes care of all things.
