The purpose of the meeting is Associate Pastor Torey Haynes’ promotion to provisional elder. In the United Methodist Church, a provisional elder has been commissioned by the bishop but is serving a required three- to four-year probationary residency (based on full-time or part-time appointment) before being ordained and accepted into full connection.
