Essays on Patriotism Sought (Nov. 5)

America’s president and citizens are having a conversation about patriotism as it relates to our United States flag and national anthem. In honor of Veterans Day, children ages 10-15 are invited to write a 300-word explanation about what it means to be a patriot. The explanations are due on or before Sunday, Nov. 5, to any member of the Veterans Planning Committee and/or placed in the Veterans Day Box located on the information table in the narthex.  The submissions shall be judged by veterans; the winner will receive an award of $25 and read her/his work at the Veterans Day repast, Sunday, Nov. 12. It will also be published in our church bulletin and possibly a newspaper.

It is important that handwriting is legible; it can also be word processed.
